Steve Jobs, Apple founder/former Pixar CEO/member of Disney’s Board of Directors/all-around nifty guy, offered a rare peek at his personal tastes when he demoed the iPad during a spring tour. A source from Silicon Alley Insider was present at the demonstration and caught four different sites that Jobs had bookmarked on his Safari browser. If you want to stay up-to-date on the latest tech facts and factoids, at least you know you’ll be in good company at the sites listed below.

  • Engadget.com: Engadget was founded by Peter Rojas, who also co-founded the Gizmodo weblog. The site launched in 2004 and has grown to include nine separate websites, each of which function in their own language with their own staff. Engadget was awarded the 2007 Weblog Award for tech sites, and continues to explore new means of communication, such as live broadcasting and a monthly taped video show.
  • Gizmodo.com: Yes, Rojas’s former site is also on Jobs’s bookmarks, even though the two sites now have a well-documented rivalry. Gizmodo is part of the Gawker Media network, and is currently directed by Brian Lam. In 2007, Gizmodo was the first blog to get photos from the Consumer Electronics Show.
  • New York Times Technology News (nytimes.com/pages/technology/index.html): The New York Times has been published continually since 1851, which lends certain credence to the paper’s Technology News section. The section covers both the technology industry and consumer electronics, and also runs its own “Bits Blog,” which features up-to-date tech news coverage.
  • Wall Street Journal Business Technology News(online.wsj.com/public/page/news-tech-technology.html): The Wall Street Journal is the largest newspaper by circulation in America, with a subscriber base of 2.1 million copies. The newspaper was founded in 1889, but has published some kind of technology section since 1980. The Journal‘s tech section tends to focus on the business side of things, including plans and profit info for industry leaders.

The source for Silicon Alley Insider did say that there were other sites bookmarked, but these were the ones the source remembered. Who knowsmaybe if you start reading these sites regularly, you’ll be the next tech industry darling?
